How do I translate a word or sentence?
Left-click the Linguo icon in the macOS menu bar. Type or paste in the top field. Apple Translation fills the language below.
How do I switch which language is on top?
Click the other field and start typing or pasting. That language jumps to the top and becomes the source. Selecting or copying the translation does not switch the pair.
How do I add a language?
Right-click the menu bar icon and open Settings, or press ⌘,. Use Plus or Choice Language to add a language. You need at least two languages before the card can translate.
How do I open Settings?
Right-click the menu bar icon and choose Settings, press ⌘,, or reopen the app from Finder. On first launch, Settings opens until you have added two languages.
How do I change a language on the card?
Click a flag on the card. The menu lists your other Settings languages, except the two already on the card. Pick one to replace that side.
How do I copy the translation or clear the source?
The source field shows a clear button when it has text. The translation field has a copy button. Selecting or copying the translation does not switch the language pair.
How do I reorder my languages?
Open Settings and drag language rows into the order you want. Extra languages stay in Settings and appear only when you click a flag on the card.
How do I remove a language?
Open Settings, open the overflow menu on a language row, and delete it. This removes it from Linguo only. Apple’s system translation packs stay installed.
Does Linguo send my text to a cloud translator?
No. Linguo uses Apple Translation on your Mac. There is no account inside the app and no developer-operated analytics.
Does the interface follow my Mac’s language?
Yes. Linguo follows the language of your Mac. There is no separate language setting inside the app.
Can Linguo launch automatically at login?
Yes. Right-click the menu bar icon and enable Launch at Login. You can turn it off there or in macOS Login Items.
Which macOS version is required?
Linguo requires macOS 15 or later.
Is Linguo available on the App Store?
Yes. Linguo is public on the Mac App Store as Menu Linguo.
