How do I add an authentication account?
Open 2FA in the menu bar and choose Settings. Select “+”, enter a title and your Base32 TOTP secret, or paste an otpauth:// URI. Secrets stay on your Mac and are used locally to generate codes.
How do I copy a code?
Click the 2FA key in the menu bar and choose an account. The current six-digit TOTP code is copied to the clipboard. While the menu is open, the key icon shows the current 30-second countdown.
Where are my secrets stored?
Authentication accounts and secrets stay locally on your Mac. 2FA generates codes on your device and does not upload secrets or codes to the developer. Never send secrets or recovery codes to support.
Does 2FA collect usage data?
No. 2FA does not use developer-operated analytics, behavioral tracking, or advertising systems. Your configuration stays local on your Mac.
Can 2FA launch automatically at login?
Enable “Launch at login” in the 2FA context menu by right-clicking the key. You can disable the option there or in macOS Login Items.
I removed an account. Can I restore it?
Removed accounts cannot be restored in 2FA. Add the account again with its original secret, if you still have it from the service that issued it.
Which platform is 2FA made for?
2FA was designed for macOS and is intended for distribution through the Mac App Store.
